Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds soul gospel jazz and R&B with a distinctive mix. The singer's career has taken her across Broadway to European festivals and clubs and even to the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta, she originates out of Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing and playing piano in the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released exclusively in Japan It was later remixed by a variety of producers and has become an essential part in her live show. Her voice was also added to the music of The Fighting Temptations. The band was hired as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning performer) approached her for a position as choir conductor for Dreamgirls in Atlanta in the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was at the center of attention for the nation during four performances per day at 2008's Democratic National Convention. Sunshine then went on to be asked to sing in the presence of President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
